How to diaper your baby - Many first-time parents are surprised on how many diapers they use in a one day time period. It is very important to have all of your supplies ready with in reach before you begin changing a diaper. To life a little easier on yourself make sure you have plenty of your diaper changing supplies on hand at all times. You should also be sure to wash your hands before and after you change your baby's diaper.
A great helpful tip for new parents it to make a checklist of what you will need every time you have to change a diaper and keep in a basket or on the changing table to remind you. This is especially helpful for the new fathers. You NEVER want to leave your baby alone on the changing table or bed even for a second. Here is a list of items you should have close by when going to change a diaper:
Steps in Changing you Baby's Diaper:
- A clean diaper
- Baby Wipes
- A plastic bag or something to dispose of soiled diaper
- Diaper Rash Cream or Multi purpose ointment
- A change of clothes for the baby
Always change your baby on a secure surface covered with a changing page or towel. Remove the diaper by removing the tabs and then fold them back done. You don't want them to stick to your baby. The next step is to take a baby wipe and clean the area by wiping from front to back. At times this might take several baby wipes.
Fold the diaper onto itself with the dirty wipes inside and then move to the side. Open and slide the new diaper under the baby. At this time, you can apply ointment or Diaper Rash Cream if needed. Secure the clean diaper by tabs from the back to the front of the diaper making it is snug but not to tight. Finally, dispose the dirty diaper and wash your hands.
